The Italian was announced as the new Blues manager in April on a three-year-deal but the club have had to wait for his involvement with Italy at Euro 2016 to end.
Conte impressed during the tournament with his tactics and defensive strength, leading Italy to the quarter-finals where they were beaten by Germany in a dramatic penalty shoot-out.
But after a week’s break, Conte was seen at Gatwick Airport last night ahead of meeting his players for pre-season today.
The 46-year-old will be unveiled at Chelsea's Cobham training ground tomorrow with his first game on Saturday against Rapid Vienna in Austria.
And reports in France suggest Conte is edging towards his second deal of the transfer window.

French newspaper Le Parisien claim Chelsea have agreed a £29.1m (35m euros) fee with Leicester for N’Golo Kante.
The report says the France midfielder has been offered a five-year-deal.
Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi, 22, has already joined as Conte's first move.
