Kante to Chelsea: Conte may not have to pay £35m to secure deal
CHELSEA have made some strides in their efforts to sign N’Golo Kante, according to reports.
N'Golo Kante is high on Chelsea's wishlist
The Leicester midfield enforcer has been on Antonio Conte’s radar for a while.
Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain expressed an interest, but the Blues have been heavily linked with the player who saw his hopes of lifting the European Championship trophy end at the hands of Portugal on Sunday night when France lost the final 1-0.
And according to the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea have begun talks over a deal for Kante.
It is suggested that while they could trigger the 25-year-old’s £20million release clause, they may have to pay more to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
Reports over the weekend suggested Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai SIPG tabled a £35m bid, however the Blues might have room for negotiation to bring the price down.
Kante has already rejected a new £100,000-a-week deal with Leicester.
