And Barca only failed to complete a transfer because of Nolito's wage demands.
“We couldn’t sign him then because of an economic issue," Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu told Spanish newspaper Sport.
"We explained that to Luis Enrique. He’d have preferred to have the player but it couldn’t be."
He added: "If you can't afford a car, you must settle for another. However, it should be noted that this is not usual but it's good that Barcelona is a club that shows economic control, with maturity."
