Bologna have entered the race to sign Leeds defender Giuseppe Bellusci
The 26-year-old is contracted to Leeds until 2018 but it has been claimed he could be offloaded this summer.
Bellusci signed for Leeds from Catania in 2014 but has endured a turbulent time at Elland Road, with the Italian falling out of favour under now former boss Steve Evans during the second half of last season.
And Italian outlet Radio Bolognauno claim Bologna are willing to offer Bellusci an escape route as they look to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window.
It is said coach Roberto Donadoni is keen to bolster his defensive ranks as he hopes his side can push on after consolidating their place in the Serie A.
Website Football Italia suggest one reason why Bellusci is being targeted is that he is Italian.
The FIGC (Italian FA) have brought in regulations for next season that stipulate each club must have at least four youth team players and four players with Italian experience.
The arrangement could add a premium onto any Italian player being bought by a Serie A side and Leeds could get a bumper deal if they decide to sell the defender.
