Barcelona eye £25.9m deal for Man Utd star: Jose Mourinho could axe midfielder
BARCELONA could give Juan Mata his ticket out of Manchester United, according to reports.
Mata's place at Manchester United is expected to be under threat under Jose Mourinho
Express Sport understands the 53-year-old has been given a £12million-a-season three-year deal at Old Trafford and is planning a massive overhaul of the squad.
Juan Mata - 5 things you need to know
He is understood to have been given £200m to spend on new players in addition to whatever he can raise from players he deems surplus to requirements.
Mourinho was the manager who oversaw the sale of Mata to United from Chelsea and the 28-year-old could be forced to leave once again.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim Barcelona are considering a bid for Mata this summer as they look to strengthen their squad.
Barca are said to be frustrated at failing to reach the Champions League final and having to watch fierce rivals Real Madrid lift the trophy.
But they see Mata as an ideal man to join their midfield especially as someone who knows La Liga well - he spent the first five years of his professional career playing in Spain.
And the Spain international is desperate not to see his career stagnate, having been left out of Vicente del Bosque's squad for Euro 2016.
