Jack Wilshere is in line for a new deal at Arsenal
The 24-year-old’s career at the Emirates has been ravaged by injury, restricting him to just 66 Premier League appearances in the past five seasons.
Manchester City have been credited with an interest in the midfielder, who started just one league game this term due to an ankle injury.
But despite his injury record, the Daily Telegraph claim the Gunners want him to stay at the club for the foreseeable future.
Wilshere is currently on a £90,000-a-week deal and has two years left to run on it.
The report suggests that talks over a contract extension will take place over the summer, and the north London club are keen to keep hold of their contingent of British players.
It is also believed Theo Walcott will hold talks over his future after relinquishing his first-team spot, but has been given assurances he’s in Arsene Wenger’s plans.
This is despite the two clubs having qualms over the asking price.
