Spurs boss Pochettino saw bids rebuffed for West Brom's Berahino (left) last summer
Still reeling from losing out to Leicester for the title this season coach Mauricio Pochettino has drawn up a list of candidates to fill the role he reckons could go a long way to winning the champions crown next term.
Long-term target Saido Berahino is believed to top it. But Spurs face competition for his services from Watford and Crystal Palace and if they fail again to lure him from West Brom Pochettino is prepared to scour the world to find a strike partner for Harry Kane.
He said: "It's obvious we need to improve our offensive area.
"Our challenge is to win trophies next season, but first we need to do our business and try to perfect our squad.
"It will be tough. Our target needs to be to finish in the top four because for the club it is important to be in the Champions League. And then, like this season, we can fight for the league title.
"We need to try, like this season, to win the league. We were close this season and we need to be close next season too."
