Club legend reveals type of player Man Utd must buy to challenge Chelsea and Arsenal
ROY KEANE believes Manchester United must choose the personalities of their summer signings carefully this summer.
Keane believes United need characters as well as players
United have an FA Cup final against Crystal Palace on the horizon and still have a chance of qualifying for the Champions League to salvage a difficult season.
But nevertheless Express Sport understands executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is planning on spending a huge budget on revamping the squad this summer.
But Keane, who himself won seven league titles and was club captain at United, has warned the Red Devils to ensure they have the right calibre of players.
"I wouldn't say I have sympathy for Van Gaal, but then again I don't like to see managers heavily criticised because it's a difficult job," Keane added.
"It was always going to be difficult, even for David Moyes, after Alex Ferguson.
"There's been some good signs over the last few months with some of the younger players.
"With lots of changes over the last two or three years, it was always natural there was going to be a dip."
