Real Madrid are hopeful of tying Bale down to a new contract until 2021 but he is yet to put pen to paper.
And according to Italian publication Tutto Mercato Web, Bale is stalling on signing a new deal as he is keen for a return to England, and his clientele are working on a move.
Manchester United and City are the two clubs showing the most interest in him.
The Poland international recently revealed that he had held talks with the Merseyside outfit, but the 21-year-old now says he’d be happy to stay at Empoli for another season.
“There was contact between Liverpool and Empoli, I can't deny that, but I've never personally talked to Klopp,” he told Polish outlet Sportowe Fakty.
“I feel good at Empoli, and frankly I'd prefer to stay here for another year, but I know my registration belongs to Udinese.
“If I have to go back to them then I'll make my choices."
