Revealed: Liverpool could still beat European rivals in transfer race for this defender
CANER ERKIN has not signed any deal with Inter Milan despite reports in Italy suggesting Liverpool's pursuit of the player might be dead in the water.
Erkin has yet to sign a contract for next season
Erkin's contract with Fenerbahce expires at the end of the season and the 27-year-old has yet to agree a new deal with the club.
Liverpool have been tracking the availability of the player and sent scouts to Turkey at the beginning of the month to watch him.
But Inter had reportedly reached a pre-contract agreement with Erkin to beat the Reds to any chance of signing the defender.
Current incumbent Alberto Moreno has come under fire for his poor defending and Jon Flanagan and Nathaniel Clyne, both of whom have played left-back, are naturally right-sided.
It means Klopp will be on the lookout for a left-sided defender and Erkin on a free transfer could represent a very attractive possibility.
