Tottenham star ruled out of crucial Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea games with knee injury
TOTTENHAM'S Nabil Bentaleb has been ruled out for at least six weeks after undergoing surgery on his left knee.
Nabil Bentaleb could return for final two games of the season
The midfielder suffered the injury while playing for the Under-21s in Friday's 3-0 win over Leicester but is expected to return to training before the end of the season.
Spurs tweeted: "We can confirm that @nabilbentaleb42 has today undergone surgery to his left knee.
"The expected recovery and rehabilitation is likely to see him return to training in approximately six weeks."
The north London club remain hopeful Bentaleb could be available in time to face Southampton and Newcastle, their last two opponents of the campaign.
Mauricio Pochettino will have to continue without Nabil Bentaleb for another six weeks
But the Algerian will miss crucial games against the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea as they look to overtake Premier League leaders Leicester for the title.
The 21-year-old has only made two league starts this season, both of which came in August, after an ankle injury ruled him out for three months in the autumn.
