Chief executive confirms club close to 'record breaking' striker deal with Liverpool
DANNY INGS' compensation fee will be the 'biggest in history', according to Burnley chief executive David Baldwin.
Liverpool are expected to pay a large compensation fee to Burnely for Danny Ings
Ings signed for Liverpool last summer on a free transfer after allowing his contract with Burnley to expire.
However, a compensation fee made payable to his former club is needed to meet Fifa regulations regarding training costs for players aged under 23.
The Reds offered around £4.5million for the then 22-year-old, but their claim as to the England international’s worth was not helped by Tottenham's £12m offer.
“It could have been any time during March or April but availability of legal counsel for both parties has dictated the later date.
"They are both working on other cases and they are not just dealing specifically with cases of sports law”.
The current tribunal record fee is Chelsea's £6.5m paid to Manchester City for Daniel Sturridge in January 2010.
