His arrival would be part of the package that sees Antonio Conte come in as manager.
Italy head coach Conte, 46, is expected to soon be announced as Chelsea's new boss for next season.
Chelsea are expected to provide Conte with a sizeable transfer kitty to reboot their ailing squad ahead of the new campaign.
