Chelsea release funds for five new players despite lack of these key targets
CHELSEA owner Roman Abramovich will reportedly release funds for Antonio Conte to buy five players this summer - although the incoming manager is yet to identify certain targets.
Antonio Conte is expected to take over at Chelsea this summer
Express Sport understands Conte, 46, will be announced as Chelsea’s new long-term manager for next season by the end of the month.
The former Juventus head coach is currently preparing for Italy’s Euro 2016 campaign - after which he will head to Stamford Bridge.
And The Times claim Conte has already earmarked three players he wants to rejuvenate Chelsea’s midfield and forward ranks.
John Terry, 35, is set to leave the club after failing to earn an extended contract.
And youngster Kurt Zouma may not be ready for the start of next season after suffering a serious knee injury earlier this year.
With two centre-back spots to fill, Chelsea have been linked with moves for PSG’s Marquinhos, Juventus star Leonardo Bonucci and John Stones of Everton.
However, The Times claim Conte is yet to address these defensive worries.
And that leaves Abramovich waiting to total the costs.
