Paul Scholes blasts ‘shambolic’ Man Utd after defeat to Liverpool
PAUL SCHOLES launched a withering attack on Manchester United, labelling their display against Liverpool in the Europa League as ‘shambolic’.
Louis van Gaal had a night to forget at Anfield
Louis van Gaal’s men slumped to a 2-0 defeat in the first leg of their last-16 tie.
Van Gaal hadn’t previously lost on any of his visits to Anfield, but a Daniel Sturridge penalty and a Roberto Firmino strike has left the Red Devils with an uphill task to overturn the deficit next week.
BT Sport pundit Scholes has been a vocal critic of United this term and once again hit out at the performance of his old club.
“United were a shambles. At 2-0 down, they were still in the game,” Scholes told BT Sport.
“At United, there are certain standards you have to live up to and they’ve fallen well short.
“When we were at Utd, we had great examples in Bryan Robson, Roy Keane, Paul Ince and Steve Bruce - they were setting the standards.
"United were a shambles!" @ManUtd legends @rioferdy5 and Scholes less than impressed with #MUFC. https://t.co/eKrdehDFsw
