Micah Richards' message to Aston Villa fans after Villa Park protest in Everton defeat
ASTON VILLA skipper Micah Richards has assured furious fans that the players are in bits too over the club’s catastrophic slide.
Micah Richards insists Aston Villa's players do care
Villa are rooted at the bottom, eight points short of the safety mark with the players being continually hammered by supporters for their woeful performances.
Around 2,000 fed-up fans walked out in protest during Tuesday’s 3-1 home defeat to Everton – their 18th league loss out of 28 games.
But Richards insists no one should even think the players don’t care.
Home fans have seen them ship nine goals in the last two games – they were mauled 6-0 by Liverpool – and it’s all getting too much to stomach.
Richards said: “We capitulated in the last home game against Liverpool but against Everton we tried to fight as much as we could.
“But in the end their quality showed. They were smart. They let us have the ball at times and then hit us on the counter-attack.”
