Gonzalo Higuain - Spotlight on
Liverpool have put an offer on the table to sign Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain.
The 28-year-old was offered a new contract by the Serie A side but is stalling on signing an extension as he considers his options.
Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport claim Manchester United are looking to win the race for Higuain by tabling a £62million offer.
But now Spanish website Fichajes claim Liverpool have matched United’s bid, with Arsenal also showing an interest in the striker.
Gonzalo Higuain, Jurgen Klopp, Antonio Adan
Jurgen Klopp reckons he is the ‘perfect solution’ to Liverpool’s problems as he bids to rebuild the club and make it a force again.
His comments come after Liverpool revealed a £60m profit for the year up to May 2015 as Fenway Sports Group look to fund the German in the summer transfer window.
And Klopp reckons he is the right man to push the club forward.
“I am 100% excited about the challenge. It gets better and better by the way. Why? Because I know more,” he said.
“I don't know what other names FSG would have taken but I think I am a really perfect solution. I am patient enough to work for the moment and then we can change things.”
Liverpool have joined Sunderland in the race to sign highly-rated Real Betis goalkeeper Antonio Adan.
That is according to Spanish newspaper AS Diario, who claim the Reds are showing an interest in the Real Madrid academy product amid reports Simon Mignolet could be on his way out.
Adnan is under contract at Betis until June 2019, but is understood to have a £6million release clause.
The Reds will face competition from Premier League rivals Sunderland, however, with Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce said to be keeping tabs on the keeper.
