How Manchester United could ruin Marcus Rashford, claims former defender
DANNY HIGGINBOTHAM believes Manchester United must be careful when they offer Marcus Rashford a new contract.
Rashford has been a sensation in the absence of Wayne Rooney from the team
The teenager has burst onto the scene with four goals in his two appearances for the club including a double against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday to mark his Premier League debut.
Express Sport understands United are now desperate to offer him a massive pay jump from £1,500 to £15,000 a week.
But Higginbotham, who spent six years at Old Trafford at the start of his career, believes offering the striker a bumper deal could halt his footballing progress.
“By giving young players these big contracts, clubs are unintentionally making a lot of lads go sterile.
“It’s becoming a big problem because players are stagnating and are not progressing from the age of 20 onwards.”
