Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg drops agent amid ‘conflict of interest’ claims
MARK CLATTENBURG has been forced to cut ties with his agent after concerns arose over a conflict of interests.
Clattenburg only announced his agreement with the agency this month
It then emerged that the agency represent a number of Football League and Premier League players.
Professional Game Match Officials Ltd (PGMOL) govern referees and do not disallow them from having agents.
The association between referee and agency was seen to represent a potential for conflict of interests.
A spokesman for PGMOL said: “Mark has decided not to work with the agency and as far as PGMOL is concerned that is the end of the matter.”
