Agent claims Pep Guardiola turned down shock Premier League move
PEP GUARDIOLA may have agreed to take over at Manchester City in the summer but he turned down a move as a player, his agent has revealed.
Pep Guardiola turned down a deal to join Manchester City as a player in 2005
The Bayern Munich boss will replace Manuel Pellegrini at the Etihad for the 2016/17 season, despite interest from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea.
But it has been revealed he was once close to moving to Manchester in 2005 as a player.
“He was offered six months and he turned it down – if he was going to bring his family over he wanted to come for a year.
"So he turned the deal down at the time and he just wanted an opportunity to experience the Premier League.”
