Stoke boss Mark Hughes: We tried to sign Emmanuel Adebayor
MARK HUGHES says Crystal Palace have landed a potential star in Emmanuel Adebayor and confirmed the Potters were keen to sign the controversial striker.
Stoke boss Mark Hughes revealed he tried to sign new Crystal Palace striker Emmanuel Adebayor
Adebayor is available to make his Palace debut in the FA Cup this afternoon against Hughes, who managed him at Manchester City.
And Hughes was so impressed with the Togo international at the Etihad Stadium that he enquired about taking him to the Potteries.
"We talked about Ade and his situation but he's based in London," said Hughes. "We knew early on that was where he was likely to end up, so we didn't pursue it to any great extent other than a conversation. But he's a good player. When he's on top of his form he can be unplayable, he's that good."
