Liverpool hero: Jurgen Klopp must keep faith with this player
JERZY DUDEK has spoken out in defence of under-fire Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
Dudek believes Mignolet will only improve as a goalkeeper
The Belgian international has received criticism as Jurgen Klopp's side have struggled to keep clean sheets, while Mignolet has looked particularly vulnerable at set-pieces.
But Dudek, who made 185 appearances for the Reds and famously won the Champions League in 2005, believes Klopp has the right man in place.
"He is a good goalkeeper," Dudek said.
But Dudek believes the problems are as much to do with Mignolet's defence as his own form.
"He has had some problems with high balls – crosses – but a lot of keepers have the same problem in England," Dudek added.
"I think he needs someone in front of him, someone like Jamie Carragher or Sami Hyypia, someone who can organise and lead the defence."
