Chelsea speak out on legendary striker return rumour
ANDRIY SHEVCHENKO will not be making a return to Stamford Bridge according to Chelsea.
Reunited? Andriy Shevchenko had been rumoured to be lining up a reunion with Jose Mourinho
Sources close to the Ukranian had claimed that he was on the verge of being offered a backroom role at his former club.
It had been claimed that Shevchenko, who spent two seasons at Chelsea but scored just nine goals, wanted to become a director at the club and had already begun talking to relevant people inside the organisation
However, head of communications Steve Atkins today told Goal.com that the story was 'total nonsense'.
"In the last 10 years he has been one of the most successful managers in the world. His results prove this. He still is.
"I am sure he has the quality to find a way through this moment. He needs to win a few games, get a few results and Jose has a long future at this club."
