Man Utd boss Louis van Gaal: What Gary Neville needs to do to be a success at Valencia
LOUIS VAN GAAL believes new Valencia head coach Gary Neville faces a managerial baptism of fire in Spain.
Gary Neville has been announced as Valencia manager until the end of the season
Neville was unveiled as the Spanish side's new head coach yesterday but won't take charge of the team until next Wednesday's Champions League clash with Lyon.
The role is the former Manchester United defender's first in management, although he has been an assistant to Roy Hodgson with England since 2012.
Van Gaal worked in Spain during two spells with Barcelona and admitted Valencia are a big club with big ambitions and advised Neville to learn Spanish as quickly as possible if he wants to be a success.
"Valencia is a very big club in Spain with a lot of history, a lot of titles also, so it's a big step up for him, a big challenge also," the United boss said.
