The Chile international was forced off in the second half of last weekend's 1-1 stalemate at Norwich with a hamstring injury.
Sanchez is the Gunners' joint-top goalscorer this season, alongside Olivier Giroud, bagging nine goals in all competitions.
Wenger is unsure on the 26-year-old foward's return date, but has challenged his side to step up to the plate in his absence.
The Gunners boss said: "It's always a disappointment to lose players at an important moment of the season.

"But on the other hand, it's a great challenge to take for the team and a great opportunity to show that we are ready for a fight and we can deal with it.
"We prepared ourselves to go through periods like that, and I'm convinced the players are ready."
