Man Utd facing Louis van Gaal dilemma as Pep Guardiola 'prefers' Old Trafford switch
PEP GUARDIOLA is holding out for the chance to manage Manchester United, according to reports.
Pep Guardiola appears to be keen to test himself in the Premier League
The Bayern Munich boss is still yet to resolve his future with the Bundesliga champions.
Initial reports suggested Guardiola would put pen to paper on a lucrative £17million-a-year two-year contract extension with Bayern before Christmas.
However, a report in Spain on Friday suggested that Guardiola is poised to take over Manchester City at the end of the season with Carlo Ancelotti, who is currently on a sabbatical, replacing him at the Allianz Arena.
Intriguingly, Guardiola skipped his pre-match press conference on the same day before Bayern’s game against Hannover.
But according to the Daily Telegraph, Guardiola appears to be warming himself up for the chance to take over the reins at Old Trafford.
The report claims Guardiola would ‘prefer’ the chance to manage the Red Devils instead of City.
Louis van Gaal is contracted with Manchester United until 2017
United it is thought would have to pay Louis van Gaal £7million in compensation in order to release him early from his contract.
Guardiola was linked to United in 2013 after Sir Alex Ferguson retired, but the Red Devils plumped for David Moyes instead.
