DIDIER DROGBA has revealed he was approached by West Ham before he moved to Chelsea in 2004.
Didier Drogba has admitted he was approached by West Ham before Chelsea
The 37-year-old, currently plying his trade in the MLS with Montreal Impact, has admitted the Hammers approached him when he was at Guingamp.
The former Ivory Coast international turned heads, scoring 17 goals in 34 appearances and helped the club to 7th place - their highest finish in the top flight.
However, despite interest from the east London team, Drogba instead opted for Ligue 1 giants Marseille before moving to Stamford Bridge the following year.
"I was at Guingamp at that time," he told Sky Sports.

"I'd just arrived at the club and they [West Ham] came to my house and spoke, but it didn't happen. I wasn't ready to go."
He instead joined the Blues in 2004 for £24million, scoring 100 Premier League goals in his first stint with the club.
Didier Drogba was a huge fan favourite at Chelsea
And he has admitted he's still infatuated with the club and hopes to be a part of the back-room staff once he hangs up his boots.
"Things have been fantastic between me and the club. I really want to be part of this club, of the history of Chelsea," he added.
"As I said, as an ambassador, as a kit man - it shows the love I have for this club. Garry Grey [Chelsea kit man] is in trouble! Gary - I'm coming for you!"
