Manchester United line up bid for Barcelona defender in January
MANCHESTER UNITED are considering a January transfer for Barcelona defender Marc Bartra, according to reports.
Marc Bartra is reportedly on Manchester United's radar
The 24-year-old has been with Barcelona since 2002, progressing through the youth ranks and B team before making his first-team debut in 2010.
But despite making more than 50 La Liga appearances for Barca, he is still not considered an automatic pick due to the depth of Luis Enrique's squad.
And according to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Louis van Gaal will move for the defender in January, enticing the player with the promise of first-team football.
The centre-back has previously been linked with Premier League pair Arsenal and Liverpool, however, he shot down the rumours by saying he felt 'special' at the Nou Camp.
Marc Bartra is not considered a shoe-in for the first team at Barcelona
Every year people say the same things, but staying at Barca was [and remains] the only thing on my mind
“Every year people say the same things, but staying at Barca was [and remains] the only thing on my mind,” he told newspaper Marca.
“I have it all here. Feeling important in a team like this one is special.”
Bartra was part of the Spain team that beat England 2-0 in the international friendly on November 13.
