The Belgium international, who has bagged four goals and assisted two this season, has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool since the summer.
But Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli insists the club are working hard to fend off any interest by tying him down to a new and improved deal.
“There’s a willingness on our part to keep him, and also on his part to stay,” Giuntoli told Radio Crc.
“We’re working, and we’re confident that there will be no problems. There’s no need for new meetings, the intention is to continue together.”

When asked about a possible move, he told Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws: "The Premier League would be a good challenge."
