That is according to the Daily Star, who claim Louis van Gaal has targeted the England international after ending his pursuit of Tottenham’s Harry Kane.
The United boss reportedly sent his scouts to watch the 28-year-old in his last two appearances against West Brom and Watford.
The former Stocksbridge, Halifax and Fleetwood forward bagged in both matches as he continued his scoring streak that stands at nine consecutive top-flight outings.
Vardy - who has 12 goals altogether this season as the Foxes sit third in the Premier League standings - has a reported valuation of £15million.

Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been linked with an interest in the in-form striker, but boss Claudio Ranieri has no interest in cashing in.
The Italian said on the interest: “We don't sell him, he is very happy here. It is too early to speak about it. He stays with us – nobody goes in January.”
