The Real Madrid forward, 30, was linked with a return to Old Trafford this summer, while reports claim he could be playing his last season at the Bernabeu.
If that is the case, United have once again been touted as his most likely destination, with Paris Saint-Germain said to be another interested party.
While the United faithful might welcome an emotional return with the club legend, they might yet be disappointed, even if the player himself would also like the move to happen.
Balague insists the club would prefer to leave Ronaldo in the past and keep his legendary status in tact.
