The Portuguese tactician saw his side crash out on penalties at the Britannia Stadium this evening.
This week is a pivotal one for Mourinho, whose tenure at Stamford Bridge appears to be under threat after the Blues’ dismal start to the campaign.
Mourinho gave terse answers during his press conference on Friday with the media before the West Ham game.
And he has hit back over the constant sniping by the media over him and his team.
“What the players did tonight is face some people that write and speak, and said: "You are stupid”. What some people write and say is really bad for the players,” Mourinho said.
Jose Mourinho's days at Chelsea could be numbered
“Maybe they think my players are like them when they were players. My players don't do that, they tried everything.
"If anyone saw the second half the other day, playing with 10 men the way they did, it's a lack of respect for the players."
