Alan Shearer: Chelsea are shambolic and embarrassing but must stick with Jose Mourinho
PREMIER LEAGUE record goalscorer Alan Shearer admits Chelsea have been shambolic and embarrassing this season, but believes they should stick with under fire Jose Mourinho.
Jose Mourinho is feeling the pressure at Chelsea after yet another defeat
The Blues currently sit 15th in the Premier League table following their controversial 2-1 defeat at Upton Park on Saturday, where Nemanja Matic saw red and Mourinho was sent to the stands.
They have already lost seven games this season, with five of those defeats coming in the league, and look a shadow of the side which ran away with the Premier League title last season and finished eight points clear of nearest rivals Manchester City.
And Shearer is alarmed by Chelsea's sharp downwards spiral, but believes they can turn things around under Jose Mourinho.
"I can’t remember a team like this becoming so shambolic and embarrassing quite so quickly," he wrote in his column in The Sun.
"The majority, including myself, tipped them to win the league - but it’s going from bad to worse.
"I know the club came out and backed Jose a couple of weeks ago after the defeat by Southampton. As far as I’m concerned, that was the right thing to do.
"I think the club will stick with him and they should stick with him. They backed him two weeks ago and that means they have to back him again now."
