Porto president talks transfers as Chelsea and Liverpool line up bids for midfield star
PORTO president Pinto da Costa insists Ruben Neves is not for sale at any price.
Liverpool - Most Expensive Transfers
The 18-year-old is being tracked by Liverpool and Chelsea, with the Reds thought to be in pole position for his signature.
Neves made history this week by becoming the youngest ever captain since the inception of the Champions League.
One of the most highly sought-after midfielders in Europe, the youngster could prompt a scramble for his services around the continent.
However, the Porto chief is keen for Neves to stay and become a club legend like Joao Pinto did at fierce rivals Benfica.
“Ruben has a contract until 2019 and not until 2017, as sometimes I see in writing.
"And we would like to keep him at FC Porto, as a kind of João Pinto," he told Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.
Ruben Neves is reported to be transfer target for both Liverpool and Chelsea
Liverpool have also been linked with a shock move for Nuri Sahin
"That is, he was a symbol and legend of the progress of the club for several generations.
“I never want him to leave Porto.”
Liverpool appear keen to strengthen their midfield and have also been linked with a shock move to bring Nuri Sahin back to the club.
Elsewhere, Chelsea are desperate to add some firepower and could break their transfer record to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.
