Butland has started in all eight Premier League games for the Potters this term and his fine form was rewarded by England boss Roy Hodgson last night with his second international cap.
The 23-year-old, whose senior debut came in a friendly against Italy three years ago, kept out Lithuania in the 3-0 win in his first competitive Three Lions appearance.
And Stoke captain Shawcross hopes Butland remains at the Britannia Stadium for many years to come, having lost keeper Asmir Begovic in the summer to Chelsea for £8million.
"It’s good for Jack and it’s good for the club to have him involved with England, but he’s had an excellent start to the season," the former Manchester United defender said.

"We seem to have a problem that if our keepers play so well they move on so we will have to be careful he doesn’t have too many saves to make.
"Jack’s signed a long contract and he’s a top keeper. Hopefully we can keep him for as long as we can."
