Confirmed: Former Newcastle and West Ham manager takes charge at Sunderland
SUNDERLAND have announced the appointment of Sam Allardyce as their new manager on a two-year deal.

Allardyce replaces Dick Advocaat, who quit last weekend after a 2-2 draw at home to West Ham left the club with just three points from eight matches.
The 60-year-old, who has also managed fierce rivals Newcastle, has been on holiday in Spain since leaving his position at West Ham in the summer.
But Allardyce is now keen to get back to work will face West Brom in his first game as manager on October 17.
The Black Cats currently sit second from bottom in the Premier League standings, five points short of safety.
He said on his new challenge: "I have enjoyed my break from football and now I’m raring to get back.
"I met with Ellis and we spoke at length about the club and his ambitions and I knew I wanted to be part of that.

"I hope to be able to help to bring the stability and success that everyone wants.
"Of course it’s a challenging job, but it’s something I have experience of in the past.
"I’m looking forward to working with the players and of course I will be relying on the help of the Sunderland supporters, whose tremendous passion I have experienced first-hand."
