Rooney went on holiday to Las Vegas before the tournament in Ukraine and Poland - a decision that drew much criticism for his apparent lack of work ethic.
And the now England captain says he regrets taking the break and advised others to avoid doing the same.
“Looking back, I regret that,” he said. “I’ll certainly get my part right this time and, as a team, we are all building to being successful. It’s something I’ve learned.
"At the time I thought it was no problem but now I know I obviously shouldn’t have done it. It’s flights and jet-lag. I was there with my family but flying so far, it takes a while to get over the jet-lag.
"We’ve already discussed that and the senior lads in the squad will sit down with the manager and the staff organising the tournament to work out what we can do better this time.
"But maybe not having a long break between the season finishing is probably the best thing.”
The 19-year-old cost manager Louis van Gaal £36million on transfer deadline day and earned his first France cap in a friendly against Portugal last Friday.
France have scheduled a number of friends leading up to Euro 2016 as they have already qualified for the tournament as hosts.
And his brother, Dorian, told the Sun the striker could be United captain one day.
"Anthony has all the qualities needed to be Manchester United and France captain.
"My little brother isn't someone who will shout at all the players around him. He doesn't need to because he speaks with his incredible skills."
