Mario Gomez to consider future as Liverpool target claims he will leave club if asked
MARIO GOMEZ says he will leave Fiorentina if it is the best thing for him and the club.
Mario Gomez in action in pre-season
The German forward has been linked with a move to Liverpool, while reports claiming a switch to Besiktas had been agreed emerged after Wednesday's pre-season defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking after the defeat to the French giants, he said: “This is a very important period for me.
“We have to understand what the best thing is for me and for Fiorentina, nothing is decided yet."
Brendan Rodgers was reportedly ready to offer Mario Balotelli as part of a deal to take the 30-year-old to Anfield.
Despite the imminent arrival of Christian Benteke from Aston Villa, the Reds boss is keen to bolster his attacking options as Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert could both leave the club.
Rodgers has also been linked with a swoop on Barcelona for Pedro and might still retain an interest in Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette.
