Liverpool eye surprise move for Chile ace as Steven Gerrard replacement
LIVERPOOL reportedly want former Cardiff ace Gary Medel to replace Steven Gerrard.
Gary Medel impressed at the Copa America
Gerrard left Liverpool at the end of last season to join the LA Galaxy.
The Reds moved quickly to bring in James Milner on a free transfer from Manchester City to fill the void.
However, reports in Spain suggest Brendan Rodgers is preparing to bring Medel back to the Premier League from Inter Milan.
Medel has impressed in Italy after being relegated with Cardiff in 2014.
And after helping guide Chile to the Copa America this summer, it is claimed that Rodgers has now identified the tough-tackling midfielder as the man to replace Gerrard.
Inter would be reluctant to let Medel leave but may find it tough to resist a large bid from Liverpool, who have money to spend after agreeing a £49million deal for Raheem Sterling with City.
