Deal! Mikel Arteta signs new one-year contract at Arsenal
ARSENAL club captain Mikel Arteta has reportedly signed a new contract, ending speculation Arsene Wenger could sign a new midfielder this summer.
Arsenal - Most Expensive Transfers
According to the Daily Mirror, Arteta agreed a new one-year deal a while ago but had not signed the new contract until now.
The uncertainty surrounding the 33-year-old's new contract had raised questions in his future at the Emirates.
However, while he had received offers from Spain, Arteta has committed his future to the FA Cup champions and will be involved in the pre-season trip to Singapore.
Arteta's new deal comes as the midfielder is set to return from injury after spending much of last season on the sidelines.

And as a result, Wenger will not be pressurised into buying a new defensive midfielder this summer.
Morgan Schneiderlin, who is set to join Manchester United from Southampton, had been a long-term target for the Gunners.
Arturo Vidal and Ilkay Gundogan have also been on their radar but moves for either player look unlikely.
