Dani Osvaldo axed by Southampton as Italian flop's deal is terminated two years early
DANI OSVALDO'S nightmare spell at Southampton is over - at a cost of £25million.
Dani Osvaldo made just 13 appearances for Southampton and struggled to settle on the south coast
Southampton shelled out a club record £14.6m to bring the Italian striker to the Premier League in August 2013.
But after just 13 appearances, the Saints have taken a big hit by cutting their losses and dumping Osvaldo for good.
Osvaldo never settled on the south coast and his days were numbered after head-butting club captain Jose Fonte in a training-ground altercation at the start of last year.
Southampton immediately put Osvaldo, 29, up for sale and shipped him out for loan spells with Inter Milan, Juventus and Boca Juniors.
Now they have decided there is no way back and have terminated Osvaldo's £75,000-a-week contract with two years still remaining.
With Osvaldo costing a staggering £8m a goal, his ill-fated Saints career will go down as one of the worst deals in English football.
