Liverpool confirm FIFTH pre-season fixture closer to home
LIVERPOOL will play a pre-season friendly just one week before their Premier League campaign kicks off.
Liverpool will play in Helsinki's Olympic Stadium on 1 August
The Reds are already set to play in Asia and Australia this summer and today confirmed a date in Helsinki to their fixture list.
Brendan Rodgers' side will play HJK Helsinki in Finland's Olympic Stadium on Saturday 1 August, seven days before their domestic campaign begins.
Billy Hogan, Liverpool's chief commercial officer, said: "Pre-season is an important time for the team to prepare and this final game will complete an exciting tour following our games in Asia and Australia.
Liverpool - Most Expensive Transfers
"LFC has a massive fanbase in Scandinavia and, of course, in Finland because of (former player) Sami Hyypia, and I am sure they will be looking forward to seeing the team play against Finland's champions in their final tune-up for the Barclays Premier League season."
The date ups Liverpool's schedule to five games, handing Rodgers more chance to test out his squad ahead of their top-four challenge next term.
The Reds are already penned in to play fixtures in Bangkok, Brisbane and Adelaide next month, before a clash with a Malaysia XI in Kuala Lumpur on 24 July.
The club have confirmed tickets for the game will be released tomorrow.
