Man Utd to battle Roma for Dutch star after missing out on Dani Alves
MANCHESTER UNITED have turned their attention to Paris Saint-Germain defender Gregory van der Wiel after missing out on Barcelona's Dani Alves.
Dani Alves Player Profile
Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is keen to strengthen his defence in the summer and has made signing a right-back a priority.
The Dutchman had set his sights on a free move for Brazil international Alves, but he has today committed his future to Barca.
And according to reports in France, Van Gaal has put PSG's Van Der Wiel at the top of his shortlist.
French newspaper Le Parisien claims the 27-year-old is destined to leave in the summer and is likely to join either Roma or United.

Van Der Wiel's agent Mino Raiola is believed to have already met up with Roma director Walter Sabatini over a potential deal.
The Netherlands international, who has just over a year remaining on his current deal, joined the Ligue 1 giants in 2012 from Ajax for £4.5million.
