Both sides toiled in the Dublin sun at the Aviva stadium as they looked to prepare themselves for their European Championship qualifiers next weekend.
Wilshere did impress on his return to the side after injury and is optimistic of a better performance against Slovenia on Sunday.
He told ITV: "Overall, we'll be disappointed. At times we looked like creating something and it broke down. We know we're better than that. Maybe it was to get the cobwebs off after a week off. We'll look where we went wrong.
"It's great to be back and involved in the setup. We don't get much time together so we have to make the most of the times we are together. I know the manager trusts me and we have a great relationship.
"It'll be a different game [against Slovenia]. We do have to be better. We'll learn from this and hopefully we'll get the three points we need."
