Lloris wants to play in the Champions League and has been linked with United if David De Gea joins Real Madrid this summer.
Spurs remain keen to keep hold of the French international but the 28-year-old has refused to rule out a move away.
Does Hugo Lloris need to go to Manchester United? It's not for me to say.
Talking about Lloris' future, Courtois said: "Does Hugo Lloris need to go to Manchester United? It's not for me to say.
"He's a great goalkeeper who saves a lot of points for Tottenham.
"I respect him a lot. I always look at what colleagues are doing and try to steal their good stuff to keep progressing while maintaining our own styles."
Hugo Lloris is wanted at Manchester United
Earlier this week Jan Vertonghen pleaded with Lloris to stay at White Hart Lane, saying:"He's a great guy, great captain, great goalkeeper and a brilliant player for us. He's the captain, very important and this season he was one of our best players.
"He's been outstanding for us and if you want to continue growing as a club you have to keep your best players and Hugo is one of them.
"I hope Tottenham can keep him. It will be a sign for everyone next year that we want to compete in the Premier League."
