Brentford boss Thomas Frank is convinced that Bryan Mbeumo will leave the club in the near future following his sensational start to the campaign. The striker bagged his fifth goal of the season as the Bees were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham at the Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday.

Mbeumo had already found the back of the net against Crystal Palace and Tottenham as well as bagging a brace in his side’s clash with Southampton ahead of the showdown with the Hammers.

And it took him just 38 seconds to get his name on the scoresheet in west London as he volleyed the ball past Alphonse Areola from 14 yards out.

Mbeumo was Brentford’s second top scorer last season after netting 10 goals in all competitions, despite missing almost four months of the campaign with an ankle injury.

He has been his side’s main man in front of goal this time around following Ivan Toney’s departure to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli.

And following Brentford’s showdown with West Ham, Frank discussed Mbeumo’s future as he explained: “He was our biggest miss for four months last year, even with Toney out.

“He was our key player and has added another layer this season with five goals in six games. That’s incredible and he’s creating chances. He’s a top player. I’m convinced he will play for a bigger club. I’d buy him if I was at a bigger club.

“We convinced him to stay and he’s very happy. All our players might need to leave us one day but a lot of them are happy because we have a top environment, with good people. We push each other.”

Mbeumo is contracted to Brentford until the summer of 2026 after signing a fresh deal in 2022 following his team’s first season in the Premier League. But, according to GiveMeSport, Arsenal and Liverpool are both interested in prising him away from west London.

Newcastle are also keen to sign the 25-year-old Cameroon international, with the three Premier League giants eyeing up a move ahead of next year’s two transfer windows.

The interested clubs are enticed by Mbeumo’s prolific form last season as well as his versatility across the frontline and are said to be considering whether to test Brentford’s resolve.

The Bees slapped a £50million price tag on the star ahead of this summer’s transfer window and were said to be surprised there wasn’t more serious interest in the player from the Premier League’s big-hitters.
