BRENDAN RODGERS has hailed John Terry as the best defender in the league.

The Chelsea captain became the highest-scoring defender in Premier League history after giving the Blues the lead in just the fifth minute against Liverpool this afternoon.
And Rodgers - who worked as an assistant manager at Chelsea during Jose Mourinho's last stint in charge - has praised Terry's spirit.
He said: "I worked here for four years with John Terry.
He is the best centre-half in the league in his years.
"He is the best centre-half in the league in his years. A wonderful passer of the ball and a warrior."
But Rodgers admitted he has also been privileged to work with Steven Gerrard during his time at Liverpool.
He said: "I've worked with Steven Gerrard now for nearly three years.
"I knew from the outside he was one of the best of a generation but when you come in and work with him it's been a great privilege."
