The Spanish international striker wasn't risked against Liverpool, despite wanting to play as he recovers from a recurrent hamstring problem.
And Costa therefore took the opportunity to take in the game from a slightly different viewpoint.
The third tier behind the goal with the home fans to be precise.
And despite trying to cleverly disguise himself with the use of a cap, Costa couldn't hide from the beady eye of television cameras.
While Costa's decision went down incredibly well with Chelsea fans, the stewards at Stamford Bridge didn't see things quite the same way however.
Diego Costa was asked to move by stewards
The 26-year-old was asked to move by stewards in the lead up to half-time, presumably for his own safety.
But the gesture hasn't been lost on Blues fans, who affection for the Brazilian-born star shows no signs of diminishing after he helped guide the west London outfit to the Premier League title this season with his goals.
