Ronald Koeman explains Nathaniel Clyne's ultimatum amid Chelsea & Man Utd's £25m interest
SOUTHAMPTON boss Ronald Koeman has explained why he issued an ultimatum to Nathaniel Clyne.
Nathaniel Clyne Player Profile
The 24-year-old, who joined the Saints in 2012 for around £2million, is out of contract at the end of next season.
His impressive performances at St Mary's have led to him being linked with both Chelsea and Manchester United, with £25m reportedly enough for Southampton to sell.
We have to think of the future of the club and team
However, Koeman is keen to tie up a new deal for Clyne, hence why he told the England international to make his decision before the end of the season.
"We like to know it because always with players that have one season of their contract left, that is business," the Dutchman said of Clyne.

"We are nice people, straight people at the club but we have to think of the future of the club and team.
"He mentioned at different times to everybody at the club (that he is happy) and I understand it's all about the contract, the future, and he has to make that decision. I can give him some advice but it's difficult."
