Liverpool set to move for Barcelona man to catch Man United and Arsenal in top four race
LIVERPOOL are monitoring the developments at Barcelona in their bid to sign a new right-back.
Martin Montoya is on Liverpool's radar
The Reds are keen on Martin Montoya and are weighing up a summer bid now that it looks like Dani Alves could stay at the Nou Camp.
Montoya's first-team chances have been limited under Luis Enrique and he has expressed a desire to leave.
Alves, who is out contract this summer, also looked like leaving although it appears he's had a change of heart.
Liverpool are keen to add a new full-back with Glen Johnson out of contract and Jon Flanagan suffering another injury setback.
Montoya, at 24, would offer someone with experience of being at a big club but has never really made an impression on the team at Barcelona and is uncapped for Spain.
However, the Daily Mail report a move could be imminent.
Alves' decision to stay - despite links to Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United - would mean Montoya's chances of getting a game next term would be minimal.
The Reds are keen to improve their squad following a poor showing this season.
They have followed a second-place finish up with, what now looks like, missing out on the Champions League.
